To live in the hearts and minds of those we leave behind

Let us help get you started

Condolences for

I remember Mr. Smillie as our principal at West Salem. He was stern but lenient. He was always willing to listen and then do what's right! He will be missed.

Dear Vera, Dawn and Scott, I am thinking of you at the passing of your husband and father. I was a student at Wilton High School in th 50's when Mr. Smillie taught in Wilton. My memories are especially vivid because he was our basketball coach and I was a guard on that team that almost went undefeated, no thanks to West Salem, as they handed us one of our two losses that year. But, Bill was a great coach and I can see that he continued that tradition beyond Wilton, my home town! I too went on to a teaching career in Wisconsin and overseas in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Now retired living in Madison and still travelling world wide. Bill was an inspiration for me and I have never forgotten him. I can see that he lived a great life and was always respected by all that came in contact with him. My classmate George Dougherty was kind enough to inform me of Bill passing. Our class has always held reunions more than any other class in Wilton and we have always remembered Mr Smillie. Mike Rice

To Mr. Smilie's family: I would never have made it through algebra, geometry and trigonometry without Mr. Smillie's help. Even when he was principal I would go to his office almost every day and ask for help from him. He was unfailing kind and supportive in showing me how to appreciate mathematics. My thoughts are with you all. Anne Drecktrah, WSHS class of '67

Thoughts and Prayers for the Smillie family. Many fond memories of Mr. Smillie (can't call him anything else), from Math Class to WSHS Sporting events to just seeing him in the neighborhood. He seemed to always make us all smile. Truly a great individual. He will be missed.
