Condolences for

To the family of Ed Garves, I only knew Ed Garves as Smiley. I met him at Nutbush, his favorite breakfast place. (and mine) My dad died on this date, June 5, one year ago. After that, I sat by Smiley a little more, and talked to him a little more. I was missing my dad terribly. Smiley told me about being in the Army, like my dad. I will miss Smiley a lot. He was a fixture at Nutbush, and I feel like I'm becoming one, too. I know that the staff and the customers will feel the difference of Smiley not being in his usual place. My synpathy goes out to his family. It's funny how people touch you in different ways.

Smiley was family to us at Nutbush City Limits. I waited on him every day and my husband Billy cooked his food just the way he liked it, every day. We easily adopted him, as if he were our own grandfather, and he came to mean the world to us. Though we are grieving at the loss of his life, we will forever remember him with smiles on our faces. He touched our hearts in a very special way and we feel honored to have been blessed with having him in our lives. We love and miss you Smiley!

From when our kids were little to our greatdaugher, we have so many memories of time spent with Ed or Head as our niece called him. Always had rutabagas at Thankgivings and always brought our dogs a treat, they wouldn't let him past until he gave them a treat. We and our extended famiy offer our deepest sympathies.
