RIP Uncle Jim. You had an amazing holiday spirit, decades ago lighting up your LaCrosse street house and playing Santa. You were also quite good acting in local theatre (many moons ago). As a kid- I’ll always remember Goose Island fishing, camping, canoeing, and kayaking with you. RIP

I knew Jim for many years. He could be feisty, even cantankerous, at times. But he also showed himself to have a heart of gold on many occasions. He would do just about anything legal to help kids. Once, when he was acting as Santa Clause, he had his rental property on Market Street lit up with tons of lights, and would sit out in the cold weather, despite his significant arthritis, just to bring some joy to any kid who wanted to talk to Santa. Well, he touched many people with that kindness. He didn't seem to have two nickles to rub together at the time, but he was determined to be there for the kids. I won't forget that or his fierce pride in his military service. Farewell, Jim. I hope it's easier on the other side.

Marge & family, We are so sorry to hear about Jim’s death. We are currently in Florida so will be unable to attend his memorial service. Jim always added a spark as Santa at Rotary Lights. We wouldn’t have had Santa there in our early years if it wasn’t for Jim. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Pat & Joanne
