Obituary for William J. "Bill" Osterman

William J. "Bill" Osterman, 59, of Westby, Wis., died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, after battling cancer.
Bill was born June 5, 1951, in Hancock, Mich., to William A. and Jeanne (St. George) Osterman. He was a 1969 graduate of Aquinas High School in La Crosse. Bill was employed as a Production Supervisor at the Westby Co-op Creamery in Westby, Wis. He had been previously employed with Mathy Construction in La Crosse. He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, playing golf and horseshoes, gardening, and canning, but there was nothing Bill enjoyed more than grilling a meal for his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Carol (Olson-Ignasiak) Osterman of Westby; two sons, John Osterman (Kyrsten Fetty) of Cashton, Wis., and Scott Osterman of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; three step-daughters, Sarah Ignasiak (Ramy Shenouda) of Cairo, Egypt, Kelly (Tim) Servais of Cashton, Wis., and Amy (Dan) Simonson of Westby, Wis.; step-grandchildren, Gavin Nedland, Carly Servais, and Alana and David Simonson; one sister, Dr. Yvonne (Dennis) Brault of Viroqua, Wis.; one brother, Steve Osterman; one niece and one nephew, Jeanna Brault and Jesse Brault, both of Viroqua; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, John O'Brien.
Memorial services will be Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 306 So. Main St., Westby. Pastor Gary L. Daines will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, (Woodruff Chapel), La Crosse, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent at
