Obituary for Eugene Kasten

My heart is broken for my sister, Ann Kasten, whose husband,Eugene, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at his home, with Ann by his side. He was a wonderful, kind, and funny man who had the best stories to tell. Eugene and Ann were married Dec. 21, 1996. Eugene loved his “Sweetie” and together they shared a contentment and all encompassing love that guided their years together. I love you in this way. “I love you without knowing how or when or from where. I love you simply with our problems or pride: I love you in this way because I don’t know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, So intimate that your hand upon my heart is my hand. So intimate that when I fall asleep it is your eyes that close. I love you in this way.” -William Shakespeare Eugene Kasten was born on Dec. 13, 1927. Eugene is survived by his wife, Ann; daughters, Lin (Ralph) Sherman, Jodi (Steve) Iverson, Karen (Linda) Kasten, Larry Kasten, and Gary (Carol) Kasten; step-son, John Silker; and three grand children, Dustin Walter, Keenan and Tristan Iverson. He was preceded by his parents, Levi and Della Kasten; daughter, Betty; and granddaughter, Jamie. In accordance with Eugene’s wishes, he will be cremated and a private burial will take place at a later date.
