Obituary for Ronald Buroker


Ronald “Ron” L. Buroker, 70, of Holmen, passed away with his family by his side, Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born on May 30, 1947 to Fay and Nora (Schneider) Buroker. Ron graduated from West Salem High School in 1965. He was drafted, served in the United States Navy and fought in Vietnam. Ron always made it known that he made it home from Vietnam just in time for deer hunting. After his time in the service, he owned and operated Buroker Electric with his brother, Dave. Ron went on to work as an electrician and maintenance technician at Webster Lumber for many years and later, Sara Lee until he retired. He and his family were long-time members of the Pine Tree Riders Club. Ron was an avid gardener and participated in local farmers markets with Cheryl for a number of years. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting with his customers and fellow vendors. Most mornings consisted of a daily visit to Cindy’s in Mindoro for breakfast. Ron enjoyed spending time with family and friends, turkey hunting, deer hunting, the outdoors, western movies, and dancing. He was a great friend to many and would do anything for anyone. Ron was always there with a friendly smile and to lend a hand. The three most important people in his life were Cheryl, his daughter, Tracy, and his niece, Dawn. Ron loved them all very deeply. Ron was survived by Cheryl Zenk long time friend and companion; daughter, Tracy (Dave) Christopherson of Bangor and their children, Matt (Alicia) Christopherson of La Crosse, Scott Christopherson of Bangor; grandchildren, Zack, Chris, and Dezarae Buroker of Minn. niece; Dawn (Bruce) Howe and their children; Gunner and Sawyer; cousin, Duane “Dewey” (Colleen) Hoeth, who like a brother to him, and many other cousins, relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dave (Carlene) Buroker, Terry (Jean) Buroker. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem. Pastor Jonathan Schmidt will officiate. A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, in Black Oak Cemetery, Mindoro, with military honors to be rendered by the Gundersen-Gilbertson American Legion Post 507 of Mindoro and the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard.
