Obituary for Carolyn (McRae) Asmus

Carolyn Kay (McRae) Asmus, 63, entered into God’s rest on November 27, 2017 at her home in Columbia Heights, Minn. She was born January 2, 1954, in La Crosse, to Millard McRae and Audrey (Bendel) McRae-Mades. Carolyn graduated from Melrose-Mindoro High School in 1972 and married Alan Asmus in 1988. Al and Carolyn raised their family in Isanti, Minn. Carolyn treasured her family and loved being a mom to her three sons, Lucas, Christopher, and Kyle. Her most recent joy was spending time with her grandson, Haddon. Carolyn’s bouncy, joyful personality was her signature characteristic and she had a knack for making people feel loved and cared for. Her favorite pastimes were family trips to the North Shore of Minn., and celebrating and decorating for holidays. Most importantly, Carolyn was a child of God and loved to sing songs to her Savior, Jesus. Surely she is singing today. Carolyn is survived by her mother, Audrey McRae-Mades; Alan Asmus; sons, Lucas (Lauren), Christopher (Alexandria), and Kyle (Lindsay); brother, John (Elizabeth) McRae; sister, Judy (James) McRae- Kernik; grandson, Haddon; two nieces; and two nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Millard McRae and her stepfather, Waldemar Mades. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. She will be buried at the Farmington Cemetery, Mindoro, following services.
