Obituary for Marilyn Kundy


Marilyn E. Kundy, 86, of La Crescent, peacefully passed away with family by her side at Gundersen Health System, on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at age 86. Marilyn was born on July 20, 1931, in La Crosse to Ora and Luella (Stone) Ready. She graduated in 1949 from Central High School. Upon graduation, she worked as an executive secretary at the La Crosse Cooler Company then became a drafts person for Johnson Controls and retired from Gundersen Lutheran as an administrative assistant to four doctors in the Psychiatric Unit. She married Lyle R. Kundy on September 17, 1952, and they had three children. Marilyn always took pleasure in reading and would finish a book in a day or two. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping with her family at various locations in Wisconsin and Minnesota. She was an active member of the Happy Twirlers Square Dancing Club from 1972 to 1983. She enjoyed gathering monthly for lunch with her neighborhood ladies for socializing. She was a wonderful, loving wife and mother who had a kind and gentle soul to all those she came in contact with. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Lyle Kundy; three children, Stephen (Shelly) Kundy, Suzanne (Jon Scott) Palmer, and Scott Kundy; granddaughter, Nikki (Jake) Endres; and her sister-in-law, Peggy Kundy of Helena, Mont.; brother-in-law, Sam Nichols. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law, Delores Nichols and Ruth (Ames) Kundy; brothers-in-law, Marlin and William Kundy Jr.; and grandson, Jonathan Kundy. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018, at La Crescent United Methodist Church, 520 Elm St., La Crescent, Minn. Rev. Aaron Justice will officiate. A visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service, Saturday, at the church. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Marilyn was an avid cat lover and requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the La Crescent Animal Rescue, 523 So.
