Obituary for Mary E. (Fields) Bowerman


Mary E. (Fields) Bowerman, age 83 of West Salem went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wed. April 4, 2018 at Hillview Health Care Center, Lacrosse, WI. Mary was born January 17, 1935 in Alto , Mich. to Gerald (Ted) Welton and Orpha Welton. After graduating from high school in Caledonia, Mich., she attended a year at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago. On November 26, 1953 she married David A. Fields in Kent County, Mich. She was a loving mother to four children and lived out the example of a Proverbs 31 women. She will be dearly missed by her family. Mary enjoyed sewing, crafts, travel, camping and music. She used her gift of playing the piano to enrich the services of the Baptist churches her husband David pastored. Her employment through the years included being a nurses aide and activities assistant at two nursing homes (Mulders Health Care) where she offered her kindness and encouragement to the elderly. She also worked in the office of Phoenix Metro RV Park when living in Arizona. In her later years Mary and David worked as volunteers with SOWERS and helped out many Christian organizations across the nation. After her husband David's death in 2007 she was remarried to Basil Bowerman in Grand Rapids MI. She is survived by her husband, Basil Bowerman; her four children, Paul (Ruth) Fields of Sparta. Wis., Debra (Eric) Hesselberg of Little Canada, Minn., Marilyn (David) Anderson of Rushford, Minn., Patrice (Jeff) Rogers of Middleville, Mich.; 10 grand children; 13 great grand children; brother in laws; sister in laws; nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her husband, David A Fields; brothers, Jim (Ellenor) Welton, and Robert (Joyce) Welton; sister, Joan Bowerman. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 14, at Jandt-Fredrickson funeral home, Jostad Chapel, West Salem (121 N. Youlon St.). Pastor Rick Sella will officiate. Burial will follow in Hamilton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home.
