Obituary for Claire E. Jandt

Claire Elizabeth Jandt, 70, of La Crosse, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Mayo Health System in La Crosse. She was born October 27, 1947, in La Crosse to Robert and Irene (Farley) Lohmann. Claire attended High School and graduated from the Villa Maria Academy in Frontenac, Minn. She then attended her freshman year of college at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Mo. before attending and receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. Claire continued her education at UW-L by receiving her Masters Degree in Library Media. Claire started teaching 3rd grade at Crucifixion Catholic School in La Crescent, Minn. She later became the Media Specialist at Franklin Elementary School on the North Side of La Crosse for over 30 years until her retirement. Claire and her husband, Dennis, previously owned the Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes in the La Crosse and surrounding area for many years. Claire was so kind, full of life, loved books, adored children, took interest in their lives, and truly cared about them. Her memory was amazing. She could remember what adults and children would say from years ago!!! She delivered Meals on Wheels and was highly involved in her DKG Sorority. She was always lending a hand to help others out. Claire made care packages for people who were ill. She was the most thoughtful gift giver. Claire gave hugs to everyone! She worked as a travel agent for many years. Claire was always willing to recommend hotels or points of interest to visit as she loved to travel. She was amazing with directions and street names and wanted to share these experiences with others. Claire loved recipes and could tell you a story about them and where they came from!!!! She was the best cook!!! She and a group of her dear friends played cards and rotated their evenings once a month with probably more conversation and snacking then card playing. Claire was an amazing friend to so many and taught all of us so much. After all, she was a teacher. She touched so many lives. Her dash between her dates included so much!!!!! Survivors include her husband, Denny; her sister, Mary Ellen Lee; her twin nephews, Matthew (Kate) Lee and their children, Wyatt and Vanessa, all of Buckley, Wash., and Mark (Christine) Lee and their children, Vivienne, and twins, Margeaux and Anderson, all of Papillion, Neb.; and Claire’s special extended family, Jeff (Tara) Fredrickson and their sons, Daniel and Dawson, all of La Crosse, and Paula (Tim) Boldt and their daughters, Becca and Katie, all of Rochester, Minn. Claire was preceded death by her parents and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Margaret Jandt. A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2018, at The Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman, 530 Main St., La Crosse. Msgr. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday at the Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass, Monday at the church. Online condolences may be sent at Claire’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical staff on the 7th floor and 9th floor and her “dream team” in the ICU at Mayo Health System, La Crosse, and everyone who assisted in Claire’s care throughout the years. Memorials are preferred.
