Obituary for Jim Schuster

Jim Schuster, 68, of West Salem died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 21, 2018. He came into this world-on time for the first and last time in his life, on September 20, 1950, at St. Ann's Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., to Sidney and Ione (Westphal) Schuster. He married the love of his life, Victoria "Vikki" (Kneebone) Schuster on June 21, 1975, in New Berlin Wis.; which Jim affectionately referred to as the 'longest day of the year.' They were truly best friends, and shared an incredible love for their sons, grandchildren, many dogs throughout the years, and cooking. Jim was employed in several facets of the food service industry for his entire life. He was an innovator, consultant, and trusted teacher, who enjoyed sharing his passion and incredible talent for cooking. Jim knew that life was meant to be filled with family, friends, laughter, and adventures. He packed as much as he could into each day and constantly pursued his passions. He took every chance he could to hunt, fish, and be outdoors. When Jim wasn't at Sid's Bay, a business he built with pride and love on Lake Neshonoc in West Salem, he could be found at his kitchen table, which was a meeting place that saw many travels and heard countless stories over 40+ years. Those who loved Jim knew that his door would always be open, and all were welcome. His kindness, hospitality, and laughter will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family and many friends. Jim will be sadly missed by his two sons, Kyle (Kari) Schuster of West Salem and Brett (Sarah) Schuster of Kewaskum; four grandchildren, Autumn, Ava, Ayden, and Eleanor Schuster; his special dog and companion, Happy; his brothers Jeff (Maria) Schuster of De Soto and Jon (Patricia) Schuster of Onalaska; his nephew, Bryon (Juli) Schuster of Rockland; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Schuster; and his parents, Sidney and Ione Schuster. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at the Presbyterian Church of West Salem, 625 W. Franklin St. Pastor Stephanie M. Steiner will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bangor. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m., until the time of service, Saturday, at the church. Online condolences may be sent at
