Obituary for Mildred "Millie" Pauline (Bohlman) Herold

Mildred “Millie” Pauline (Bohlman) Herold, 97, of La Crosse, passed away on Nov. 1, 2018. Millie was born in Elroy, Wis. of Sept. 12, 1921 to Leo and Myrtle Bohlman. She was the second eldest of four siblings. Millie attended schools in Elroy, Markazan, Monticello, and college at Stout Institute before the family moved to La Crosse. This is where she met and Later married Kurt Karl Herold on April 26, 1944. They had six children. Millie was gifted in many areas. She enjoyed photography, ceramics, crafts, decorating, gardening, and sewing. She also had a passion for painting which she continued to do after losing most of her vision. She loved hosting family gatherings, as well as cooking and decorating for the holidays. She was upbeat and forever the optimist. Millie was a great and loving teacher to her children and grandchildren, and an inspiration to her entire family. She will be missed throughout the lives of family members and friends that she so meaningfully touched during her rewarding lifetime. She is survived by her brother, Gerald Bohlman (and family) of Centerville, OH; daughters, Dianne Wakefield of Traverse City, MI, Kathryn Blomquist of La Crosse, WI, Connie Nelson of Indianapolis, IN, and Kim (Bryan) Bukowski of Hales Corners, WI; son, Thomas (Esther) Herold of Madison, WI; and nephew, Scott Jungen (Linda Kohls) of Holmen, WI. Millie is further survived by her grandchildren, Deirdre (Robert) Dembowske, Rebecca (Brian) Erlinder, Jason Blomquist, Brooke (Bradford) Saron, Cord (Elisabeth McCaffrey) Blomquist, Macy (Dan) Berg, Brian Herold, Michael Herold, Stephanie (Chad Riggall) Groth, and Breanna (Casey) Trucksa; great-grandchildren, Ashley Gallagher, Shannon Korson, Maxwell, Kazzie, Leo, and August Saron, Haviland, Greeley, Staten, and Lively Berg, Phoenix Riggall, and Andrew Blomquist; the great-great-grandchildren that Millie did not get a chance to meet in this life; other special survivors, sister-in-law, Marilyn Herold; cousin-in-law, Betty Turner, and their families. Millie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kurt; older brother, Arthur “Buddy”; infant son, Robin John; son-in-law, Philip Wakefield; brother–in-law, Walter Herold; cousin, James Bentsen; in-laws, Andrew and Elizabeth Herold; sister, Beverly Jungen; son-in-law, Richard Blomquist. A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 at the Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Woodruff Chapel, La Crosse. A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
