Obituary for Marlyn D. Meiners

Marlyn D. Meiners, died peacefully March 26, 2019, at Gundersen Tweeten Care Center in Spring Grove, Minn. He was born April 12, 1938, to Henry and Elsie (Fliehe) Meiners. Marlyn was baptized May 22, 1938, at the Crooked Creek Church in Freeburg, Minn. He was a 1956 graduated of Caledonia High School. Marlyn served in the United States Army in active duty for six months and then in the Reserves for seven years. On November 24, 1962, he married Carol Jean Rosendahl. Marlyn loved to work. For 30 years, he worked two jobs, one at Trane Company in La Crosse and also at Caledonia Haulers in Caledonia. Marlyn loved having his sons ride along with him. In earlier years, Marlyn loved taking walks around town. In his last years of life, he had many friends he enjoyed visiting with daily at the Redwood Café. He also enjoyed watching FOX News and he was a baseball nut. Marlyn is survived by his wife, Carol Jean (Rosendahl) Meiners; two sons, Brian (Jamie) and Jason, both of Caledonia; two grandchildren, Brianne and Alex (Katie), both of Cresco, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jaxson, and Cora; one sister-in-law, Margaret Meiners of Caledonia; and one nephew, Leon of Owatonna, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lester and Stanley; and one sister-in-law, Edna. A celebration of life will be from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, Caledonia. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Caledonia Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
