Obituary for Mabel O. Groetsch


Mabel O. Groetsch, age 89, of Stoddard, passed away at Brookdale La Crosse on Friday, May 10. Mabel was born and baptized at home on April 9, 1930, to Henry and Tilda (Nerison) Helgeson in Esofea, Wisconsin. In her early years, Mabel worked at the Electric Auto Lite and Moen Photo. She married Roger Groetsch on July 10, 1954, and lived in the home they built together in Stoddard. She was a lifelong member of the Stoddard United Methodist Church. Mabel enjoyed being a homemaker, wife, mom, grandma and good neighbor. She is survived by her sons, Ken (Donna) Groetsch of Urbandale, Iowa; Kerry (Sue) Groetsch of La Crosse; Kory (Debbie) Groetsch of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Amelia “Amy”, John, Jane, and Sara Groetsch; sisters, Anna Pedretti, Evenelle (Greg) Furlano, and Arlene (Frex) Furlano; dear friend, Vicki (Dave) Withrow; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; brothers, Clarence “Gussie” (Dorothy) and Erling “Butch”; sisters, Venie (Glen) Krause, Louise (Vaughn) Christenson, Alice (Lloyd) Payne, and Hilda (Irvin) Dahlke; sisters-in-law, Orma Groetsch and Bernice (Eugene) Bernhardt; and brothers-in-law, Sam Pedretti and Kenneth (Helen) Groetsch. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2019, at the Stoddard United Methodist Church, Stoddard, Wis. Pastor Banze Kyabunta will officiate. Burial will follow in Stoddard Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Woodruff Chapel, La Crosse is in charge of arrangements.
