Obituary for Dennis R. Kline


Dennis "Denny" Richard Kline of West Salem, 72, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020, surrounded by his family at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse . Denny was born in La Crosse to Richard and Helen Kline (Keaveny). Denny graduated from Aquinas High School in 1965. On October 22, 1966 he married Patricia Crogan. He was drafted into the Military and served in the US Army. They had two daughters Kari and Kathy and then later divorced. He retired from the La Crosse Post Office after 30 years where he served as a Union President. He recently earned a lifetime membership of the National Association of Letter Carriers. On March 16th of 1996 he married Laurie (Thill) at Our Saviors Lutheran church in West Salem, WI. Denny was an active member of the American Legion Post 51 in West Salem for 27 years, and served as commander for two of those years. Denny was an avid race car driver. He enjoyed camping, cooking, gambling, gardening and most of all spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed driving trucks for Keenan's Cherryland. He is survived by his wife Laurie, three daughters; Kari Neumann, Kathy Kline, and Lindsay (Terry) Wood, five grandchildren; Jamie (Mat) Visger, Jeremy Kline, Ryan Neumann, Callan and Eva Wood, two great-grand daughters; Madelynn and Lenna Visger. Further survived by his mother-in-law Anna Marie Thill, one brother, Patrick (Sue) Kline, two sisters; Mary (Ron) Ragner, and Terri (Doug) Groth,. one brother-in-law Mike (Barb)Thill, one sister-in-law; Lisa Fawcett, and many nieces and nephews. Denny was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Helen Kline, father-In-law Harold Thill, two brother-in-laws Bryan Fawcett and Tom Thill. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Berg-Hemker-Olson American Legion, 148 South Leonard St., West Salem. A time of sharing will occur at 2:00 pm. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory-Jostad Chapel, West Salem is assisting the family with arrangements.
