Obituary for La Verne S. "Vern" Seiler

La Verne S. "Vern" Seiler, 81, of La Crosse, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at Hillview Heath Care Center, La Crosse.
He was born July 28, 1930, in La Crosse, to Sidney C. and Blanche (Wettstein) Seiler. Vern was a 1949 graduate of Central High School in La Crosse. He then attended technical college in La Crosse, where he received a degree in sales and supervision and a degree in traffic management. Vern was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict. On June 12, 1954, he married Mary Isler at Wesley United Methodist Church in La Crosse.  Vern was employed in pharmaceutical sales with Spence-McCord and S.E. Massengill Pharmaceutical Co. He then worked in sales and supervision with both Gateway Transportation and Pepsi Co., both in La Crosse, until his retirement in 1994. Vern enjoyed playing tennis with his wife, organizing and attending the Wednesday morning 49ers breakfast club which also included playing golf, and especially, spending time with his grandchildren. 
Survivors include his wife, Mary of La Crosse; one son, Christian Paul Seiler; his former daughter-in-law, Michelle Seiler-Scott and her husband, Michael Scott; four grandchildren, Torey Seiler, Thane Seiler, Terol Sue Swenson, and Travis McDermitt; one sister-in-law, Carol Isler; and dear family friends, Nancy Sargent and family.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
A celebration of Vern's life will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Baus Haus, 1920 Ward Ave, La Crosse. A private family entombment was Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Garden Mausoleum at Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, (Woodruff Chapel), La Crosse, is assisting the family with arrangements.
