Obituary for La Vonne (Bonnie) Miller

La Vonne (Bonnie) Miller, 88, of Bangor died peacefully Thursday, April 2, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. Bonnie was born on May 1st, 1931 in Barre Mills to Wilbur and Helen (Manke) Thielker. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Barre Mills. When she was 16 years old, she met her future husband, Herbert, at the Avalon ballroom in La Crosse. They were married on October 12th, 1950 and would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this year. Together they raised their four children on a farm outside of Bangor. Bonnie was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bangor and a member of the Ladies Aid, serving in various capacities. Bonnie was not one to sit still and could usually be found in the kitchen, cooking and baking for family and friends. In addition, she loved to be outdoors tending her yard and flowers and had a special knack for decorating her home. It was no secret that Bonnie took great pride in her children and grandchildren. She took care of every one of her grandchildren, some of her great grandchildren, and many others, treating them all as her own. She was affectionately called “Grandma Bonnie” by many. Bonnie was dearly loved by all who knew her. She had a way of drawing people in with her warmth, quick wit and keen sense of humor. Bonnie was a great listener, never judging, and always providing encouragement and sound advice, making her a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Bonnie was the eternal optimist, always grounded in Christ. Her strong faith and love of family will live on through her children and grandchildren, having been such a huge presence in their lives. Her parting words to her family…never forget how much I love you. Bonnie will be greatly missed by her husband, Herbert; three sons, Randy (Susan) Miller, Duane “Zeke”(Mary) Miller, and Todd Miller, her daughter, Pamela (Gary) Schomburg; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jon) Kloehn, Sarah (Joshua) Riley, Matthew (Amanda) Miller, Troy (Aimee) Schomburg, Maria (David) Richardson, Linzi Miller, Jason (Kasey) Miller, Ashley (Frank) Elwill, Christopher (Lesley) Miller, Carrie Wells, Caleb Miller (fiancé Lauren); 18 great grandchildren; her sister, Betty (Ramon) Stelloh; her brother, Gary (Robin) Thielker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Helen Thielker; her sister, Joyce Horstman; brother-in-law La Vern "Pat" Horstman and daughter-in-law, Shelly Miller. A private burial is being planned with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Memorials can be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or St. Paul’s Lutheran School, 401 16th Ave N, Bangor, WI 54614. "When tomorrow starts without me and I’m not there to see; If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me… I wish so much you wouldn’t cry the way you did today, while thinking of so many ways we didn’t get to say. I know how much you loved me, as much as I love you. And each time that you think of me I know you’ll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me please try to understand that an Angel came and called me home and took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in Heaven far above, and that I’d have to leave behind all those I truly loved. If I could relive yesterday just even for a while, I’d say goodbye and kiss you and maybe see you smile. So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart." Author Unknown
