Obituary for Marie A. Lenser

Marie A. Lenser, 60, of Sparta, Wis., passed away peacefully with her husband by her side, Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at her home, after a nine year battle with cancer. She was born July 29, 1959, in Tomah, Wis., to Arch E. and Barbara Ann (Babb) Core. Marie attended Onalaska Public Schools graduating in 1977. She then attended Western Technical College in La Crosse receiving an Associates Degree in Accounting. On August 17, 1996, she married Richard Lenser at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Barre Mills. Marie was employed for 36 years as the Financial Service Coordinator for the Housing Authority for the City of La Crosse retiring on September 1, 2016. In her high school years, Marie enjoyed golfing. After high school, she played in softball leagues and throughout her life, she was on bowling leagues. After her marriage, Marie became involved with hunting and loved deer hunting, turkey hunting, and Trap shooting. Although she and Richard never had children, they shared their love with their dogs, Tooke, Bailey, Brandy, and Sierra. Survivors include her husband, Richard of Sparta; her sister, Marjie (Dusty) Rhodes of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Michael Core. A private service for family will be held at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Barre Mills. Rev. Andrew Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A celebration of Marie’s life is being planned for a later date and will be announced in a future obituary notice. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Jostad Chapel, West Salem, is assisting the family during their time of need.
