Obituary for Marvin W. Sagler

Marvin W. Sagler, age 83 was called to his heavenly home on June 16, 2020. He was born November 9, 1936 in Vernon County to Anna Ruth (Delano) and William Sagler. At the age of 18, he joined the Wisconsin National Guard, where he served for 8 years, including 1 year in Washington state with the Red Arrow Division. Marvin moved to La Crosse, where he took a job as a mason. Later, he was able to form his own business. He worked as a mason at his own and later at his sons’ companies until he retired. He married Charlotte Brewer in 1959, and together they had 4 children; Marvin Jr, Darlene, Laurie, and Alan. They were later divorced. He married Iva Merle Getter (Nelson), and they celebrated 50 years together. They had 2 children together, Joseph and Lisa. Marv accepted the Lord as his savior at Faith Baptist Church in 1974, and has been a member there since. . He is survived by his wife, Iva Merle, one brother, Carl (Kathy) of Melvina, one sister, Vera Winchell of Sparta, one sister-in-law, Kathi of La Crosse. He is also survived by his six children, Marvin Jr of Viroqua, Darlene (Michael) Goodpasture of Necedah, Laurie Sagler of La Crosse, Alan (Cathy) of Viroqua, Joseph (Laurie) of Tomah, and Lisa (Brad) Delaney of West Salem, as well has two stepsons Randal (Aimee) Getter of New Albin, IA, and Rodney Getter of St Charles, MO, and many grand-children, great grand-children, nephews, and nieces. Marvin was preceded in death by younger brother, Wilbert. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church, 3615 South 28th Street, La Crosse. Pastor Steven Terpstra will officiate. Burial will occur at a later date. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of services at the church. .
