Obituary for Conrad D. Miller


Conrad "Connie" D. Miller, 78, of West Salem, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at Gundersen Health Systems, La Crosse. He was born July 27, 1942 in La Crosse to Carlet and Virginia (Jones) Miller. He married Mary Lou (Martin) Miller on May 5, 1961 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in West Salem. Growing up outside West Salem, he worked the home farm with his father and two brothers. The family later sold and installed Badger Equipment. It was during this time he purchased a straight truck to haul some of the equipment back from Kaukauna, WI. Connie never hesitated to help a friend and was always there to lend a hand. This is where his love of trucking took root. It was at this time he purchased his first Semi and worked for Warren Transport. He went on to work for Bud Meyer, Trane Company and Hot Line. As his business grew, it was then he hired his first driver AJ, followed by; Danny, Bob, Dale, Dean, Keith, Ralph, Bill, Jill, Trif, Merv and Linda, all were employees but more than that, lifelong friends. After retiring from trucking, he went to work for CESA 4 as their mail man delivering mail to all of the school districts in their jurisdiction, until suffering a stroke in 2008. In 1995 he went into business with his daughter Colene, raising BueLingo Beef Cattle, until February 2020. He had a deep love and compassion for his numerous animal friends, that even included a pet skunk. He is survived by his daughter Colene (Art), brothers David (Sara) Miller and Fred (Terry) Miller, brother-in-law Dave (Karen) Wolf, his many nieces and nephews; Melissa (Jeff) Wolf, Erika (Kelly) Crusan, Natalie (Ryan) Vanish, Nick Miller, Bret Miller, Mark (Tatiana) Wolf, Jacob (Kelsey) Miller, great nieces and nephews; Payton, Dylan, Ethan, Evan, Carson, Clayton, Isaiah, Kennedy, Vivica, Bianca, Marissa and Everett, and his adopted granddaughter Kate Levendoski. The Gentleman also leaves behind many other relatives and friends. Connie was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Lou, his sister Dianne Wolf, and his father-in-law and mother-in law Bob (Inez) Martin. Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, August 7, 2020 at Neshonoc Cemetery, West Salem. Rev. Dr. Richard Erickson will officiate. Burial will follow the funeral service. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 North Youlon Street, West Salem.
