Obituary for Donald F. Kinstler


Donald F. Kinstler, 95, of La Crosse, Wis. passed away peacefully on October 14, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Richmond Township, Minn. to August and Ida Kinstler. On December 1, 1947 he married his love Gean C. Kopp lasting 57 years. He retired from the purchasing department at St. Francis Medical Center after many years. He is survived by three daughters; Cindy (Carl) Helke, Kathy Watson, and Lynn (Don Dare) Miller; six grandchildren, Christy (Todd Helfrich) Helke, Craig (Karla) Helke, Stephanie (Al) Pelot, Chelsey (Tim Boardman) Rud, Alex Rud, and Emily VanRiper; eight great-grandchildren, April, Derek, Maliyah, Matteo, Reyez, Cody, Bryce, and Madison; sister-in-law, Virginia Mannstedt, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gean C. Kinstler and his 12 siblings. A prayer service will be at 11 am, Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Woodruff Chapel, La Crosse (4239 Mormon Coulee Rd.) Pastor Jonathan Rimmert will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. A visitiation will be from 10 am until the time of service. The family would like to thank all of the people and organizations that helped make dads wish of staying in his home a reality, Gundersen Health System including Dr. Aaron Zivney and the hospice team, and everyone from the IRIS team. A special thank you to Riley Pennington and Chelsey Rud who took such good care of him.
