Hector Arauz, Jr.
Hector Arauz,  Jr., 63 of La Crosse, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010, at his home.
He was born October 14, 1947, in Manhattan, N.Y., to Hector and Guemercenda (De Jesus) Arauz, Sr.  Hector was a veteran of the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country for 23 years beginning August 11, 1966 and concluding with his retirement and honorable discharge on August 31, 1989. During this time he served two tours in Vietnam and worked as a fabrication machinist. Hector recieved many honors and awards for his military service including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. His military service allowed him to travel and live around the world. Hector was an avid sports lover, he was a golden glove boxer in his youth, he enjoyed playing darts and Air Force recreational sports, and he was a diehard New York Yankees fan.
Survivors include his two children, Cynthia Arauz and Hector L. (Denny Rae) Arauz; his mother, Guemercenda De Jesus; his sister, Gloria (Bernardo) Santana; his brother, Ralph (Carolyn) Napoleon; his special friend Laurie Arauz; his dog and best friend Ambrosia; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, James Arauz; his sister Alicia Arauz De Jesus; and his wife Linda Arauz.
Memorial services will be Monday, November 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, (Woodruff Chapel), 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse. Deacon Richard Sage will officiate. There will be no burial. Military honors will be performed by the United States Air Force Funeral Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Online condolences may be sent at
