Obituary for Muriel Ann Sandman


Muriel Ann Sandman, 82, of West Salem, passed away, Monday, December 13, 2021, at her home. She was born August 12, 1939, in West Salem, to Harry and Mary (Albers) Horstman. Muriel was a lifetime member of Christ Ev. Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed and married to Bill Sandman on November 7, 1959. She worked as a dental assistant for many years, first for Baltz Dental Office, then, Forsberg Dentistry. Muriel enjoyed playing bridge, reading, sewing, working puzzles, and attending the various events her grandchildren participated in. Survivors include her children, Barb (Rodney) Mellor, Rodney (Lori) Sandman, and Becky (Rich) Hundt; six grandchildren, Angie, Rachel (Todd), Emily (Colin), Brandon (Jessica), Michael, and Kevin; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Doug and Kenny Horstman; sister-in-law, Karen Wagner; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Muriel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; siblings, Marvel, Ruth, Wally, Janice, and Duane; and his beloved granddaughter, Leah Hundt. The family would like to thank Mayo Hospice and Dr. Dargel for their compassionate care; Rev. Galen J. Riediger and Rev. Don Frelitz for their many visits and prayers; her special friends for the food and visits; her breakfast group; bridge club; and special friends, Darlene and Delores. A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church in West Salem. Rev. Don Frelitz will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bangor. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service, Thursday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, West Salem or a charity of the donor’s choice. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Jostad Chapel, West Salem, is in charge of arrangements.
