Obituary for Jeffrey W. Eckland


Jeffrey Wayne Eckland, 68 years old, passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 15, 2022. He was born on January 28, 1953 the son of Edward Eckland and Patricia (Rhomberg) Marx in La Crosse, WI. Jeff was an artist, creative in all things he made or photographed. His love for woodworking was apparent in every project he made from baby doll beds to medal displays to furniture. He enjoyed fishing, always sharing stories of his childhood. He loved to learn, craved knowledge and its application. He was an avid photographer, a gift and talent he would share with anyone willing to learn. Jeff took great pride in the home and homestead he created on “Eckland Mountain.” He loved to garden, build in his shop and take breaks sitting out on the deck reading and soaking nature in. He loved all his outside creatures. He is survived by: his wife, Darcy, his children, Nicole Severson, Jen (TJ) Walker, Sara Eckland, Jessie (Bill) Baardseth, DJ (Gretchen) Eckland, grandchildren Alexander, Lucian, Natalie, Kyle, Aubrey, Lukas, Alexis, Koltan, Abigayle, Samantha, Marissa, Gunnar and Kirya, sister, Lori (Don) Hicke, sister in law Sharon Schultz, Toni (Doug) West, Teri (Steve) Powell, Willa (Randy) Juel, Brenda (Tom) Wurzel, Steph (Steve) Gilles, special cousins Lynda Coehlo and Dayna Bertelsen, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Eckland, mother, Patricia Marx, stepfather, Duane Marx, brother, Kevin, grandson Gabriel Eckland, unborn grandchildren Stella and Casey Walker, mother and father in law, Fritz and Vi Hicke, brother in law, Jerry Schultz and niece Christine Powell. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Hwy 162 and Hattan St., Bangor. Rev. Andrew Schultz will officiate. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service, Wednesday, at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion in West Salem.
