Obituary for Harmony LaBeff

Harmony P. LaBeff, 55, of La Crosse, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

He was born May 25, 1956, in Pasadena, Texas, to Thomas and Louise (Harrison) LaBeff. On June 29, 1979, he married Brenda Malli in Decorah, Iowa, and they later divorced. Harmony was rich in spirit and blessed many with the fruits of that wealth. Whether it was a song, a scripture, or a joke, Harmony made it his mission to bless others by sharing whatever he had.  For 30 years, Harmony stirred feet to dancing and hearts to loving with his country-rock singing and guitar-picking.  He performed in all the lower 48 states, making great friends and memories along the way.  Harmony's passion for storytelling and songwriting was borne from a long life of heartbreak and hardship, yet was balanced with hope in Jesus.  In his last years, as his health waned, his heart waxed into fullness; giving selflessly, putting the needs of others before his own and praying for those who needed it.  He had a tender heart for the ones he loved.  He was a teddy bear to his grandchildren, the greatest advocate for his sons and a gentleman to his daughters-in-law.  He was loved and will be missed deeply by many.

Survivors include Brenda, the mother of his sons, Harmony (Amaryah) LaBeff of Chicago, Ill., Thomas (Christy) LaBeff of La Crosse, and Canon O'Heron of Bangor; three grandchildren, Nathan, Natalie, and Harmony III; his father, Thomas LaBeff; five siblings; and many nieces and nephews.

Harmony was preceded in death by his mother and step-father.

Memorial services will be Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Apostolic Church, 1353 Charles St., La Crosse. Pastor Rufus Parker will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, (Woodruff Chapel), La Crosse, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent at www.jandtfredrickson.com.
