Obituary for Laurie E. Griffin

Laurie Elise Griffin

Laurie Elise Griffin, 56, of West Salem and Hudson, Wis., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 2, 2011, at her home.
She was born June 27, 1955, in La Crosse to Harold and Loris Ann Griffin.  Laurie was employed as a Tumor Registrar at Health East Care System in St. Paul, Minn., for over 30 years.  She was a member of the Minnesota Tumor Registrar Association (MTRA) and held several offices over the years.  Laurie always had a cat to keep her company at her home in Hudson and she spent most weekends keeping her parents company in West Salem.  Family was extremely important to Laurie.  She loved to watch football with her dad and her family got a kick out of hearing her yell at the tv, telling the players what to do!  Laurie was an avid reader who enjoyed laughing, photography, golfing, John Denver, and especially playing 31 at holiday get-togethers.  She always looked forward to family gatherings and was the organizer of all of the family picnics.  Laurie also was very interested in her family's genealogy and put together an extensive family tree.  She was still doing genealogy on her trip out west a year ago and had hoped to go to Germany to keep researching.  Laurie loved to travel not only for her work conventions but also to various places with her parents.  She will be sadly missed by her family.
Survivors include her mother, Loris Ann Griffin of West Salem; three brothers, Randall (Carol) Griffin, Scott (Mary) Griffin, and David (Jan) Griffin, all of West Salem; her nieces and nephews, Matt (Catherine), Eric, Adam (her Godchild), Nicole (her Godchild), Justine, Grace, and Will Griffin; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Jordan, Cassandra, Nicholas, and Ben; and also aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.  She was preceded in death by her father on February 28, 2009 and other relatives.
Memorial services will be Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of West Salem, 625 W. Franklin St.  Rev. Larry Olson and Pastor Stephanie M. Steiner will officiate.  Burial will be in Neshonoc Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Memorials may be given to the Presbyterian Church of West Salem.  Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, (Jostad Chapel), West Salem, is in charge of arrangements.
