Obituary for Cecile "CeCe" Lewis
March 23, 1936 - June 15, 2024
La Crosse, Wisconsin - Cecile Michaeleen (Shaughnessy) Lewis, of La Crosse entered her eternal home on June 15, 2024. She was 88 years old.
CeCe was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on March 23, 1936, the daughter of Mary Jo and Michael Shaughnessy. She married Ronald (Ron) Lewis on June 21, 1975. Together they welcomed their only child, a daughter, Mary Jo.
CeCe was truly a remarkable woman. She was a woman of deep faith who was incredibly resilient, overcoming unforeseen challenges. Her professional career was spent at First Federal Savings and Loan in downtown Minneapolis. When Mary Jo was born, Cece became an active stay-at-home mom. She would often be seen biking with Mary Jo around town on their red tandem bike or volunteering on the playground.
In later years, especially after Ron's retirement, the couple could be found traveling to visit their grandson, Michael, and to watch his activities or getting on a plane to take off for a fun destination. Cece and Ron lived life to the fullest.
After moving to La Crosse, CeCe was blessed to find a home within Mary, Mother of the Church Parish. She met many new friends and enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere of the Parish.
Cece was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Ron. CeCe is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Ryan Lium, and their son Michael Lium, as well as many more friends and family whose lives she touched. She will be remembered as a loving, generous, and faith-filled woman of God who brought joy to many lives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in La Crosse on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 3:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow Mass until 7:00 pm at The Freighthouse Restaurant downtown La Crosse (Hiawatha Room). She will be buried next to Ron in Minneapolis at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, or Aquinas Catholic Schools.
