Obituary for Kay M. Maher


Kay M. Maher, 75, of La Crosse, passed away Friday, December 30, 2011, at her home.
She was born September 26, 1936, in Clinton, Iowa, to Kenneth and Dorothy (Smith) Madsen. Kay married Charles A. Subbert and they later divorced. She then married Thomas F. Maher and he preceded her in death in May of 2007. Kay enjoyed quilting, gardening, making crafts, and spending time with her family. Kay was a woman who will be remembered by her children as a loving mother and their best friend all in one.
Survivors include her five children, Kim Subbert, Terry Subbert, Douglas Subbert, Jodi (Chet) Bente, and Tracy (Jim) Potter; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Grell; and two nieces and two nephews.
In addition to her husband, Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Harold Grell.
Memorial services will be Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, (Woodruff Chapel), 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse. Rev. Meredith McGrath will officiate. Private family burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
