Obituary for Stanley E. "Farm" Olson

Stanley "Farm" Olson, 57, of Caledonia, Minn., died unexpectedly Saturday, December 31, 2011, at his home.
He was born April 20, 1954, in Caledonia to Edward and Gladys (Ranzenberger) Olson. Stanley was a 1972 graduate of Caledonia High School. He had a passion for farming and worked for various area farmers. In addition to farming, Stanley drove semi-truck for David Kurk, Inc., and later owned and operated his own welding business. He was an active member in worship and service of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia, and currently was serving as council secretary and on other committees.
Survivors include six siblings, Darlene (Lyle) Inglett of Caledonia, Lyla Olson of Dorchester, Iowa, Sandra (Bruce) Eddy and Denise (Gary) Wiemerslage, both of Caledonia, Lorna (Ed) Lantz of Fairview, W.V., and Sharon (Don, Jr.) Burroughs of Caledonia; eight nieces and nephews, Christy (Scott) Miller of Minnesota City, Minn., Shawn (fiance, Heather) Eddy of Rushford, Minn., Nicole (Cory) Woxland of Mabel, Minn., Brian Wiemerslage of Caledonia, Greg Wiemerslage (Becca Diercks) of Goodhue, Minn., Linda Lantz of Morgantown, W.V., Danielle Burroughs of Mankato, Minn., and Wesley (Kelsey) Burroughs of Eitzen, Minn.; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and three aunts, Irma Diersen of Caledonia, Amanda Olson of Spring Grove, Minn., and Marcella Olson of La Crosse.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 6, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia, on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and also on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church Heating and Air Conditioning Fund or to the St. John's Ev. Lutheran School Roof Fund. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
