He was born July 30, 1920, in rural Kenyon, Minn., the son of Nels and Ida (Lee) Jacobson. Nick attended rural country school.
Some would say, Nick was born with a mechanics wrench in his hand. He worked for Hector Construction Co. in Caledonia for 31 years and the Houston County Shop for another 10 1/2 years. Nick also ran his own shop where on the weekends, he fixed cars and enjoyed spending his time there. On June 27, 1954, he married Adeline Raitz at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector, Minn. Nick served on the Caledonia Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and the Caledonia Ambulance for six years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia where he served on the church council and he was also a Cub Scout leader.  Nick enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and he had a love for airplanes and flying. Nick had a huge love for his family and friends. His kind heart was always there to help. One of his famous quotes was "take life one day at a time."
