Obituary for Lyle F. Knudtson


Lyle F. Knudtson, 77, of La Crosse, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Hillview Health Care Center, La Crosse.
He was born December 20, 1935, in Bangor, Wis., to Bernard and Florence (Meyer) Knudtson. Lyle was a veteran of the United States Army having served for two years. On June 20, 1959, he married Darlene Stratman and they later divorced. He then married Marvine Evelyn “Marty” Breecher on October 8, 1982. Lyle was employed as a butcher at Lakeview Foods in West Salem and Smale’s in La Crosse before retiring from Bakalars in 2005. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, especially tending to his meticulous yard. He was a fan of Wisconsin sports who enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. Lyle was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and was happiest when he was surrounded by his family.
Survivors include his wife, Marty of La Crosse; one daughter, Kris (Claus) Krein of Holmen, Wis.; one son, Kevin (Amy) Knudtson of La Crosse; six grandchildren, Meghann and Kody Knudtson and Alyssa, Maddie, Hayden, and Mathias Krein; one great-granddaughter, Maliyah; three step-children, Rebecca Ryan (Mike) of Longville, Minn., Richard (Diane) Owen of Okemah, Okla., and Clarence “Audie” (Johnna) Owen of Rapid City, Ill.; three step-grandchildren, Nyki, Sam, and Jolee; three sisters, Alice (Myron) Pfaff and Luella (Douglas) Pierce, both of Bangor, and Florence (Ronald) Munson of La Crosse; two brothers, Donald (Nancy) Knudtson of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Butch (Jane) Knudtson of Bangor; one sister-in-law, Marge Knudtson of La Crosse; and many nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Kenneth (Doris), Harold (Mary Lou), and Bernard.
Memorial services with military honors will be Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, (Woodruff Chapel), 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse.
