Obituary for Nicholas R. Quinn

Nicholas R. Quinn
Nicholas R. Quinn, 76, of West Salem, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse.
He was born October 15, 1934, in Madison, Wis., to Raymond and Adeline (Davy) Quinn.  In 1956, Nick married JoAnn Ender in La Crosse and she preceded him in death on November 30, 2009.  He made West Salem his home for over 50 years and was a long term member of the business community in West Salem as an insurance agent, real estate agent and developer, and an appraiser.  Nick was the past president of West Salem Area Growth, a member of the West Salem Lions Club, an assistant scoutmaster of the West Salem Boy Scout Troop 77 and served on the executive board of the Gateway Area Council of the Boy Scouts  of America.  He was also a past member of the Rotary Club, a past member of the parish council of St. Leo The Great Catholic Church in West Salem, and a 23 year member of the La Crosse Knights of Columbus Council 839, 16 of those years as a 4th Degree Knight.  Nick loved boating, camping, traveling, and most of all spending time with his family.
Survivors include four sons, Michael (Jennifer) of Onalaska, Patrick (Joan) of Rochester, Minn., James (Monica) of West Salem, and Thomas of Woodridge, Ill.; one daughter, Maureen Quinn of Rochester, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Michelle, and Molly Quinn, Rachel, Andrew, and Brian Quinn, and Kallie Quinn; three sisters, Betty Sosnovske of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. and Crandon, Wis., Patricia (Thomas) Svec of La Crosse, and Mary Calkins of La Crosse; a brother-in-law, Robert Ender of La Crosse; two sisters-in-law, Marijo Weichert of Fairmont, Minn. and Nancy Ender of Brownsville, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Karen Quinn. 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church, 210 W. Hamlin St., West Salem.  Father Bob Hegenbarth will officiate.  Burial will be in Neshonoc Cemetery.  Friends may call at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, (Jostad Chapel), 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem, on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m.  Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Leo The Great Catholic Church, West Salem, the West Salem Lions Club, or the Boy Scouts of America.  Online condolences may be sent at
