Obituary for Chad P. "Wild" Myhre

Chad “Wild” P. Myhre, 46, of Genoa, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born in La Crosse on August 8, 1974, to Bruce and Kathleen (Erickson) Myhre. Chad was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Church in Stoddard and was a graduate of De Soto High School. He worked for his father’s business Bruce C. Myhre Electric for 20 years and most recently owned and operated Big River Bar and Grill in Genoa with his loving partner of 16 years, Meg Johnstone. Chad was a member of Walleye Anglers Trail, Badger State Sportsmen's Club and Mighty Mississippi Walleye Series where he placed in the top ten at the National Tournament in 2018. Besides spending time with his family and friends, Chad had a passion for fishing, shooting darts, hunting, shroomin’, vacationing and spoiling his dogs (Lola-bunny and Moo-moo). Chad had a bright, gregarious personality and was known for telling a good story (many times over), having a nickname for everyone he knew and for having the knack to connect with people of all ages and walks of life. He loved life and lived to its fullest, touching many with his abundant generosity and quick wit. The party truly came and went with Wild! He is survived by the love of his life “my wife”, Meg Johnstone; sons, Dalton and Darren Bernett; daughter, Erin (Jun) Johnstone; parents, Bruce and Kathleen Myhre; brother, Bruce (Melissa) Myhre Jr.; sisters, Trina (Matt) Truesdell and Sherri (Chip) Schreader; nephews, Jeremy Simonson, Kenny Myhre, Sevastian and Mattix Truesdell, Drake, Boston and God-son, Connor Brindley; one very special niece, Alexis Myhre; Meg’s family, who he considered his own, includes; daughters, Justine Johnstone and Stephanie (Kevin) John-Wagner-Stone; sons, Andrew (Emily) Johnstone and Rikki (Margo) Johnstone; and 13 extra special grandchildren. Chad was preceded in death by grandparents, Palmer and Minerva Myhre, Kenneth and Eunice Erickson, and Betty Erickson; aunt, Rita Roeder; cousin, Scott Mc Allister; mother-in-law, Mary F. Ritchie and father-in-law, Bob Bernett. Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm on Friday, November 13th at the Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Woodruff Chapel, 4239 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse. Joe Cody will officiate. A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until the time of service, Friday, at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines will be in effect, hugs will be initiated by the family and masks will be required and provided if needed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Because Chad wasn’t a “flowery guy” in lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Chad’s honor to Kicking Bear Foundation P.O. Box 194 La Crescent, MN 55947.
