Obituary for Carland R. Christopherson


HOLMEN — Carland R. Christopherson, 80, of Holmen passed away at his home Wednesday, August 25, 2021. He was born Feb. 12, 1941, in Galesville, WI to Carlton and Alice (Severson) Christopherson. Carland was a 1959 graduate of Holmen High School. On May 1, 1965, he married Sharon Christopherson at Moen Lutheran Church in Cashton. He was employed at Trane Co. for 37 years and while also self-employed with Carl’s repair which he thoroughly enjoyed for 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed dancing, camping and was a member of Jayco Camping Club for several years. Carland was a member of Holmen Lutheran Church and Lions club. Survivors include his two children, David (Diane) Christopherson of Spring Green, Wis., and Michael (Sherrie) Christopherson of Olympia WA., 8 grandchildren, Benjamin, Craig, and Kyle Christopherson, Lance Christopherson, Christopher and Tyler Rose, Holly Lochner, and Jasmine Neff; his brother, Llewellyn “ Louie” (Betty) Christopherson of Melrose; sisters-in-law, Janice (Gilbert) Berg of Frederic, Wis., Shirley Servais of Middle Ridge, Barbara Simonson and Ella Marie (Harland) Hoeft, both of Cashton; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Skrede) Christopherson; his parents, Carlton and Alice; and an infant daughter, Eileen; his in-laws, Vaughn and Muriel (Chaney) Skrede; one brother, Ronald Christopherson; three brothers-in-law, Roger Skrede, Ronald Simonson and Leo Servais; one sister-in-law, Charlene Colby; and two nephews, Danny Simonson and Brian Christopherson. Funeral services will be at 1 pm. Tuesday, August 31, at Holmen Lutheran Church, 228 Morris St. Pastor Matt Toso will officiate. Military honors will be rendered at the church, following the services, by the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard. Burial will be at Lewis Valley Cemetery. Visitation from 11am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Holmen Lutheran Church Trust Foundation. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, West Salem is in charge of arrangements.
