Obituary for Douglas H. Reinhart


Douglas Reinhart, 74, passed away at home with his loving wife Beth at his side on Friday, October 29, 2021. He was born to Howard and Maxine (Smith) Reinhart on October 17, 1947 in Paulding, OH. After high school graduation, Doug joined the Peace Corp where he served two years in Iran. Upon returning home, he attended Michigan State University and graduated in 1971. After graduation, he received his first employment with American Breeders Service of DeForest, WI. On October 16, 1976 he married Beth Gollnik of Bangor, WI at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bangor, WI. Beth was given the amazing gift, her wedding gown, designed and sewn by Doug's Grandma Smith. Grandma Smith hand sewed 2,500 pearls onto Beth's gown. After their wedding, newlyweds Doug and Beth started to make their life in Burn's Valley near Bangor, WI, farming. Throughout their married life they farmed at various locations on the East coast and in the midwest. Later, Doug worked for Genex Cooperative of Shawano, WI from 2001 until his retirement in 2015. After retirement Doug started volunteering at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, WI. He joined the Shrine's staff in 2015 as a Pilgrimage Assistant, where he was still employed until the time of his death. Survivors include his wife Beth of 45 years. One sister, Donna (Steve) Crowley of Payne, OH. Two brothers, Richard (Alyce) of Payne, OH and David (Linda) of Bryan, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and paternal and maternal grandparents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 5250 Justin Rd, La Crosse, WI 54601. Father Paul Check will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Onalaska City Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 pm and conclude with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 pm on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at the Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Woodruff Chapel, La Crosse, 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd. There will be no visitation prior to Mass, Friday, at the Shrine. A complete obituary will follow.
