Obituary for Viola J. Wermager


Viola “Lola” Jeanette Wermager, age 88, of Caledonia, MN, gained her heavenly wings on Friday, December 10, 2021. Lola was born on April 5, 1933 to Adolf “Duffy” and Myrtle (Enockson) Gran. Lola was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia, MN and a member of Do-Day. She worked at Wagner Fabric Store, Nelson Appliance and ABLE, Inc. Lola had so many interests and talents. Her grandchildren loved doing crafts with her. She enjoyed going to auctions and refinishing furniture. She taught herself to sew, crochet and quilt. She was proud to display her ribbons she received at the Houston County Fair on her projects. Lola had a green thumb, and her yard was always so perfect and full of beautiful flowers. Lola is survived by her four children, David (Lois) Wermager of Melbourne, IA, Larry (Karen) Wermager of Caledonia, MN, Ellie Rask of MN, and Carl (Denise) Wermager of La Crescent, MN, 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Vera (Lynn) Morris; brother, Glen (Elaine) Gran; sister-in-law, Jean Gran; and many nieces and nephews. Lola was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 4 brothers, Lyle Becker, Merle Becker, Leslie Gran and Arlin Gran; and 2 sisters, Eleanor Link and Lilly Coleman. A private family service will be held Thursday, December 16, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia. A public celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Elsie's in Caledonia. Our thanks to Claddagh Senior Living for her great care and Mayo Hospice Service for the compassion and support provided during her final days. Lola was kind, caring and showed much compassion to her family and friends. She loved time with family. She had a signature response to many comments that will be remembered by her family forever.
