Obituary for Frank D. Jambois


Frank D. Jambois, 91, died peacefully at Bethany St. Joseph nursing home on August 15, 2022. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth and Peter; daughters, Ann (Mark Conrad) and Ellen (Tom) Lapinski; three grandchildren, Ashli Jambois and William and Sonja Lapinski; sister, Iris Topp, brother, Bill Jambois, in-laws, Don and Mary Johnson and Loren Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Pudge (Leora); his brothers, Raymond and Norman; his sister, Edith; his parents, Frank and Virginia; as well as sisters-in-law, Nancy (Bill) Jambois, Judy (Norman) Jambois, Carole Maybee, Joann Boardman, Ruth Johnson; brother-in-law, Jack Topp; and nephew, Raymond Topp. Frank was born and raised in Genoa, WI, where he spent many days fishing on the Mississippi river and helping at the Jambois Garage—the family business that remained his favorite place to visit until his final days. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1949. He was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War, and then moved to Laguna Beach, California, until his best friend Ken Erickson was killed in a military aircraft accident. Through benefits of the GI Bill, he attended electrician school at Coyne College, Chicago, IL, followed by a year at Loras College, Dubuque, IA. He later attended UW-La Crosse and graduated with a BA in Business in 1963. He married the love of his life in 1961 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa, WI, and they raised their four children in La Crosse. Frank started working at Micro 8 Corporation, and eventually became president of Northern Micrographics before he retired. Shortly before his wife passed away, Frank lost his eyesight so he moved to Bethany St. Joseph Care Center where received exceptional care from the amazing staff and made many friends. In honor of Frank, if you are so inclined we invite you all to have a Bass Ale. Memorials preferred to Bethany St. Joseph Care Center (you can designate for new lift recliners for the residents). A Funeral Mass will be at in the fellowship hall 10:30 am on Friday, August 19, at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse. Father Brian Konopa will officiate. Burial at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Genoa. A visitation will be held from 9:30am until the time of Mass at the church.
