Obituary for Sherman Halverson


Sherman A. Halverson, 65, passed away at his home on Sunday August 14th surrounded by his loving family after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Sherman was born on May 13, 1957, the fourth of twelve children to Herman and Evelyn (Heaney) Halverson. From a young age farming was his passion which followed him his entire life. Sherman was most recently employed by Numedahl Custom Forage. Prior to that, Sherman was a longtime employee of C.A.S.H. Incorporated. Sherman was blessed by God with 5 children whom he loved dearly. In 1999 he met the love of his life, Karen. They were married on December 29, 2001. Together they shared their love of family and enjoyed life to the fullest. When not farming Sherman enjoyed fishing and 4-wheeling. Sherman is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Karen, his mother, Evelyn, five children and one stepdaughter, Crystal (Rob), Jessie, Lance (Kelsey), Levi (Ryan) Ali, Sarah (Steve) and 6 grandchildren. Siblings; Stan (Debbie), Steve, Shelby (Lynn), Sheila (Al), Sid, Sandy, Starr (Randy), Elaine, Sharlene (Trever), Shane (Jessie); many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman; a sister, Shirley; father-in-law, Dewey; two sisters-in-law, Mary, and Stacy. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Johns Church, Caledonia. Funeral will be held Wednesday, August 24, at the church 11 a.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday.
