Obituary for Robert K. "Bob" Shaw


Robert Kent Shaw, 83, of West Salem passed away on August 26, 2022, at Mulder Health Care Facility with family by his side. He was born February 23, 1939 to E. E. (Elza) and Belma Shaw in La Crosse, WI. He graduated from West Salem High School in 1957. Bob and his high school sweetheart, Sharon Justin were married at The Little Brown Church in the Vale on November 29, 1957. Bob started working at what was then, Erickson Bakery, La Crosse WI in 1960 as a "dough twister." Bob continued to work at the bakery for 43 years through multiple ownership and technology changes, retiring as Production Manager in 2002 at what is now Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc. Bob loved music of all kinds and was a member of the Presbyterian church choir for over 60 years. He was an avid game player and played cribbage every day with his wife "Blondie." He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed having fun, hosting neighborhood block parties and numerous family gatherings for holidays and special occasions. He especially enjoyed following his grandchildren's activities and spending time with family. He was an avid sports fan following the Packers, Badgers, and West Salem Panthers. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sharon; his children, Brian (Kari) Shaw, Kristine (Ron) Seeger, and Gregory (Tina) Shaw; grandchildren, Jamie (Lee), Andrew, Kaitlin (Anthony), Janna, Brittany, and Alexis; great-grandchildren, Piper, Raja, Ayden, Madalynn, Rylan, Kaysen, and another expected in October; sisters, Sandy Lutze and Lynette Burling. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Desiree. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Presbyterian Church of West Salem, 625 West Franklin Street, West Salem, WI at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Dan McCurdy will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow the service at the Hamilton Cemetery, West Salem, WI.
