Obituary for Betty L. Stelloh

Betty L. Stelloh, of Barre Mills, passed away peacefully in her home, on January 11, 2023. God granted her closure surrounded by family and friends; sharing her love for them and reliving so many experiences of joy and laughter.

Betty was born in her grandparent's home in Russlan Coulee on December 16, 1932.  She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Barre Mills.

Betty's dream was to marry a "brown-eyed" farmer from Barre Mills and she did just that on November 16, 1950, to Ramon Adolph Stelloh. They celebrated 72 years of marriage. Betty worked along side Ramon on the farm all of their married life. She was not afraid to tackle a project and she could fix, repair, sew, upholster, or paint anything. She was also a very active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, faithfully serving as Sunday School Teacher, Ladies Aid President, Choir, and countless hours of committee work for planning, decorating, and restoring various church projects.

Her strong enduring marriage to Ramon was blessed with fun filled family gatherings playing cards with friends, dancing, singing, and traveling throughout the U.S.  Betty loved having family around her and she taught them the value of hard work and a close relationship with God.

Betty is survived by her husband, Ramon; her children, Debra (Theodore) Lambert, Janet (Jeffrey) Kastenschmidt, Valerie (Dean) Lee, Ramon (Sally) Stelloh, and David (Deanna) Stelloh; her grandchildren, Andrew (Katie) Lambert, Aaron (Emily) Lambert, Chad (Crystal) Kassera, Jesse (Rachel) Kassera, Jenna (Jesse) Giebel, Dawn (Casey) Staige, Seth (Sara) Varnum, Emily (Travis) Allred, Luke Stelloh, Jacob (Katie) Stelloh, Charles (Katlyn) Stelloh, Samuel (Shelby) Stelloh, and Louis (Taylor Koss) Stelloh. She also was  survived by 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Robin) Thielker; brother-in-law, Herbert Miller; and sister-in-law, Elaine Stelloh.

Betty was preceded in death by her grandson, Joel Lambert; parents, Wilbur and Helen Thielker; father and mother-in-law, Adolph and Hilda Stelloh; sister, LaVonne "Bonnie" Miller; sister, Joyce Horstman; brother-in-law, LaVerne Horstman; sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Arlys and Harry Schomberg; and brother-in-law, Richard Stelloh.

A Christian funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Barre Mills. Vicar Keith Brassow will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service, Saturday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, Betty requested memorials be given to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church.

A special thank you to Pastor Andrew Schultz for his many comforting visits with Betty and the family and to the hospice team who were so kind and helpful.

"Should you go first and I remain, one thing I'll have you do. Walk slowly down that long long path, for I will come to you." Love, Ramon.
