Obituary for Anna M. Alleman


Anna Marie Alleman, 85 years old, lived in La Crosse, WI (formerly of Mindoro) with her two cats, “Skinny Sue” and “Charlie” too. Anna passed peacefully at her home on Friday, May 10, 2024, surrounded by her family after a 13-year battle with cancer, first bile duct and then multiple myeloma.

Anna was born (at home) July 25, 1938, in Westby, Vernon County, WI to Marvin and Alice (Olson) Widner. She was a 1956 graduate from La Farge High School and received her Teaching Degree from Vernon County Teachers College in 1958. On Dec. 19, 1959, she married Everett John Alleman at the Methodist Church in Viroqua and they shared over 53 years of marriage together. After 32 years of dedicated service to the students and staff in the Melrose-Mindoro School District, Anna retired and spent time traveling the United States and enjoying the outdoors, with her beloved husband, Everett, until his passing in 2013. Anna loved gardening and canning her harvest. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting family gatherings. Playing games, especially cards, was something she loved to do with friends and family. She was also an excellent seamstress, sewing two of her daughter’s wedding dresses. She LOVED her family!

Survivors include her five children, Everett, Jr. (Renee) of Mindoro, Deanna (Andy) Gholson of Fishers, IN, Rhonda (Kevin) Helgeson of Onalaska, Donna (Art) Breuninger of Manitowoc, and Penny (Rick) Schumacher of Winona, MN; 19 grandchildren, Christy, Jenny, Lillian “Lilly” and John, Ashley (Luke) and Drew, Jaimie (Adam), Derek (Kailee), Samantha and Stephanie, Casey, Jesse (Taylor) and Bryan (fiancé Kayla), Tyler (girlfriend Tori), Cody (fiancé Madison), Jessica, Joey, Maddie and Jessica; 16 great grandchildren, Paige and Riley, Weston and Noa, Preston, Mila and Ty, Payton, Aubrie and Kinlee, Emma, Jaxyn and Elliott, Jayden, Jace and Lenox; three sisters, Beatrice Mahan, Linda (James) Schluter, Karen (Terry) Spreuer; one sister-in-law, Rita Olson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a special cousin, Jerald Widner.

Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Everett, her parents, Marvin and Alice Widner; grandmothers, Carrie Widner and Bertha Olson; two brothers, Atley Olson and Rodney Widner; brother-in-law John Mahan; uncles, Albert Widner, Ralph Widner, Lawrence Widner and Raymond Widner; aunts, Olga Gald, Clara Olson and Helen Silbaugh.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem, WI 54669. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery, Mindoro. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered on this website.
