Obituary for Michael R. "Mike" Lewis

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Michael “Mike” Ray Lewis, 66, who went home to be with Jesus on June 9, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born October 4, 1957 in Davenport, IA to Robert S. Lewis Sr. and Ruth D. (Keenan) Lewis. He graduated high school from Marengo High School in Illinois where he met his high school sweetheart, Robin Lynn Davis and later married on May 8, 1976. They raised their family in Eitzen, MN in the Winnebago Valley.

Mike worked at Farm Services and milked cows in his early years before moving to Minnesota where he farmed on a beef farm for several years. After farming he worked at Audio Concepts where he built speakers before retiring from Croell Redi-Mix in 2014.

Mike was a devoted and hardworking husband and father who loved his wife, kids, and grandchildren dearly. He enjoyed spending time with them along with his siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends. His hobbies and interests included hunting and trapping, wood working, gardening and lawn care. He loved the Washington Redskins. He enjoyed playing guitar with his brother and dad. He loved listening to music with some of his favorites being The Beatles, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Connie Smith, Nickelback and many more. He loved cuddling on the couch with their dog Zolly Mae and enjoyed listening to his audio bible tapes with his wife.

Mike is survived by Robin (Davis) Lewis, his wife of 48 years. His children, Cory (Stacey) Lewis of Coconut Creek, FL, Trina Lewis of New Albin, IA, Bobbie (Kyle) Goetzinger of New Albin, IA, and Jacob Lewis of La Crosse, WI, eleven grandchildren Karrah Lewis, Samuel (Cameron) Lewis, Trey (Asia) Lewis, Neve (Micah) Treptau, Alex Goetzinger, Carter Goetzinger, Christopher Gress, Dawson Lewis, Jacelynn Lewis, Zach Goetzinger, and Ali Gress. Siblings Ace Lewis, Trish (Wes) Johnson, Jackie Lewis, Brother-in-law Rick Williams, Sister-in-law Jaci Lewis, Sister-in-law Dawn (Al) Buttner, and many nieces and nephews.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ruth Lewis, two brothers Bob Lewis Jr. and Vince Lewis, three sisters Sandy Buckenberger, Barb Martinson, Reg (Rick) Williams, Father-in-law Ronald Davis, Mother-in-law Donna Knake, brother-in-law Rick Davis, and special friends Larry “Snake” Knight, Nick Johnson, and Ron Timm.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Christ Community Evangelical Free Church, 188 Plum St, New Albin, IA 52160. Pastor Tommy Case will officiate. Burial will follow in New Albin City Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Caledonia Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
