Obituary for Mary A. Halverson

Mary Ann (Hauser) Halverson, 59, of Caledonia, Minn., passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15 2017, with her husband by her side, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Mary was born in Spring Grove, Minn., on August 18, 1957, to Celia Hauser. They later moved to Caledonia where she attended school and met her husband Steve. They were married on February 6, 1974, and had 43 wonderful years together. Mary had a variety of different jobs throughout her life but her passion had always been cooking and baking. Anyone who knew her, has likely tasted her delicious baked goods and know just how talented she was. Mary was most known for her kind, generous, loving, and caring personality. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family. She came from a tight knit family and married into a very large one. Her days were filled with love as she poured her heart and soul into raising a beautiful family of her own. Mary was a very proud mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Steve Halverson; children, Jeremy (Angie) Halverson, Jodi Halverson (Loren Beach), Jacob (Erika) Halverson, Justin Halverson (fiancée, Jessica Durack), and Julie (Jake) Barney; grandchildren, Evan, Ellie, Caleb, Alyssa, Max, Abbie, Sophie, Riley, Johanna, Andrew, and Mason; her siblings, Sheryl (Tim) Bissen, Linda (Gary) Conway, John (Mary) Hauser, and Nancy Hauser; and many in-laws, and nieces and nephews. Mary and Steve lost their second child, Joshua, on the same day that Mary passed, 36 years prior. We find comfort in knowing they are back in each other’s arms as well as the arms of God. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Celia; brother, David; nephew; Allen, sister-in-law, Shirley; and father-in-law, Herman. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2017, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. Rev. Jon Wolff will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia Chapel, 518 W. Main St., and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. In lieu.of flowers, memorials are preferred. Online condolences may be sent at
