Obituary for Ervin A. Sprain

Ervin A. Sprain Ervin A. Sprain, 96, formerly of Bangor, Wis., died Friday May 12, 2017, at Mulder Health Care Facility in West Salem. He was born June 15, 1920, in Barre Mills, Wis., to Louis and Louise Sprain. On May 22, 1943, he married Bernadine Strand at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church Rectory in La Crosse. Ervin farmed in Barre Mills until moving to Dutch Creek where he farmed and was employed by Webster Lumber Co., in Bangor for many years. Survivors include six children, Marilyn (Jim) Romskog of West Salem, Richard (Sharon) Sprain of La Crosse, Cynthia McCarty of Stoddard, Dennis (Ann) Sprain of Rockland, Betty Dinger of Rockford, Ill. and Karla (Tom) Lord of West Salem; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bernadine; 14 half -brothers and sisters; and great grandson Jamie Romskog. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 303 South 16th Ave., Bangor. Father Douglas Robertson will officiate. Following a time of fellowship, burial will be in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m., until 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem, and from 9:30 a.m., until the time of mass Wednesday at St.Mary’s Catholic Church in Bangor. Online condolences may be sent at
