Obituary for Ronald P. Lockington

Ronald Paul Lockington, 65, of Mindoro, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018. He was born in La Crosse September 6, 1952, to Donald and Christina (Jerome) Lockington and graduated from Melrose-Mindoro High School in 1971. On April 8, 1972, he married Sandy Haag at North Bend Presbyterian Church; they later divorced. Ron had worked at Webster’s Lumber, Town and Country Pools, and Allied Co-Op throughout his career. He also took over the family farm and was so very proud to keep up the family tradition. If anyone has ever raced at the West Salem Speedway, they know Ron. He continued his fathers legacy of racing and was a fixture at West Salem for over 40 years. Ron would never hesitate lending a hand or offer some guidance to anyone that wanted it. He had a passion to be around race cars and race tracks. Ron won multiple track championships in multiple divisions throughout his career. He helped guide his brothers, son, daughter, granddaughter, nephew, great-nephew, in racing. Ron also loved camping, attending his grandchildren’s events, and being with family. Survivors include his mother, Christina (Jim Bielefeldt) Lockington of Burr Oak; three children, Stacy Monski of West Salem, Ryan (Jamie) Lockington of Bangor, Kayla (Justin Steiger) Lockington of St. Joseph Ridge; four grandchildren McKenzie Monski of Holmen, Taylor Monski of West Salem, and Andrew and Ashlie Lockington, both of Bangor; and one on the way, Baby Steiger; three brothers, Monty (Jennifer) Lockington of Mindoro, Todd (Cheryl Tewes) of Mindoro, and Tory (Sheila) Lockington of Melrose; one sister, Kristy (Mike) Pellowski of Cataract; special companion, Denise Clarkin and her children, Joe, Amber, and Lisa; longtime friend and confidant, Jean Storandt; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Lockington. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2018, at Mindoro Presbyterian Church, N8289 Church St., Mindoro. Pastor Allen Hanson will officiate. Burial will follow in Black Oak Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem, and from 9:30 a.m., until the time of service, Friday, at the church.
