Obituary for Cory Richard McCullick

Cory Richard McCullick, 30, of Bangor, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, June 25, 2018. He was born October 26, 1987, in La Crosse, to his parents, Richard and Laurie. Cory attended the Bangor School District where he graduated in 2006. After high school, Cory packed his bags and headed out west. He attended WyoTech in Laramie, Wyo., and graduated with a degree in auto tech and street rod/custom fabrication. He spent most of his adult years working at Brenengen Chevrolet in West Salem, but also was able to work beside his brother, Gabe, at Tires Plus in Onalaska. Although Cory grew up with a split family, he truly cherished all of those “step” relatives, and always thought of them as family. He had a love for outdoors and growing up he spent a lot of time at Grandpa Arnie’s farm. Cory knew how a have a great time and was a great friend to so many people. Due to a separate heart condition since birth, Cory was restricted in what he could do athletically. That didn’t stop him from being active and participating in anything he could that was considered “non-contact”. He had a love for his Harley and although his family members were not too fond of his bike, they knew he loved it. Another love of his life was The Vault and the family he had there. If he wasn’t working, spending time with family, or being outdoors, he was at The Vault. Growing up he loved to skateboard, snowboard, bowl, shoot darts, and had a passion for the ball diamond that carried over to his adult years. Cory passed away while doing what he loved; having fun with friends, sipping on some cold ones, and swinging that bat one last time. Cory never had the chance to be a dad himself, but his nephews were his world and kept him on his toes. Those boys certainly loved spending time with their Uncle Cory. He loved his family and in his short 30 years of life, missed very few, if any, chances to spend time with them. Cory is survived by his parents, Martin and Laurie Olson of Bangor and Richard and Kim McCullick of Prairie Du Chien; siblings, Ashley (Keith) Roberts of Seneca, Shelby McCullick (Jonathan) of Bangor, Gabriel Olson (Autumn) of Sparta, Savanna Olson (Travis) of Bear Valley, Jamie (Shannon) Schultz, Jeremy Weber (Ashley) all of Fennimore, and David Malenfant of New Hampshire; nieces and nephews, Kaden, Kash, Elijah, Isaiah, Shianna, Caleb, Evan, Autumn, Blake, and Abby; paternal grandmother, Carmen McCullick; grandpa Arnie’s forever friend, Evelyn Crowley; aunts and uncles, Terry Nedrelo of Seneca, Randy and Roxann Nedrelo of Onalaska, Cathy and Ron Peek of Rockford ll., Don McCullick (Tara) of Prairie du Chien, Lynn and Mark Withey of Seneca; many other aunts, uncles, and cousins; friends that were like siblings; and his Vault family. He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Joan “GG” and Ronald Nedrelo; paternal grandfather, Arnold McCullick; grandparents, Ronald and Genevieve Olson and Robert and Char Andrews. Cory’s family would like to thank the fans at the Sparta softball field, the EMS staff at Mayo Clinic Health System of Sparta, Pastor Nile Sandeen, The Vault and its patrons for the outpouring support they have given, family and friends for your thoughts, prayers, and kind words. A celebration of life will begin at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2018, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Bangor Chapel, Hwy 162 and Hattan St., Bangor, and conclude at 7 p.m., with a prayer service and memory sharing for all friends and family.
