Donald E. Winslow, 89 of La Crosse died Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was born on January 12, 1930 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Edwin and Grace (Wallace) Winslow. He married Lois A. Krause on June 29, 1957 in Buffalo City, Wisconsin. After the death of his father at an early age, he started his life working in the factories of Kansas to reach the goals he had set with himself. With the support of sisters, he graduated from Washburn University and was on his way. Don enjoyed people and constantly sought out new information and the exchange of ideas. He made a comfortable career in sales and enjoyed the many contacts and lifelong friends from Rotary and Sentry Insurance. His passion was his home and his love for his family. Don spent much of his life perusing those passions by traveling. He played some of the major PGA golf courses and enjoyed hiking the natural parks. Don loved to drive throughout the country finding his next adventure and meeting new people. He was an avid sports fan, which stemmed from an early start playing high school and college basketball and football and spent much of his time playing sports with his children to instill that interest in them. Don was also in the Military Reserves which lead to training in Wisconsin and meeting the love of his life, his wife, Lois Krause. He is survived by his wife Lois of 61 years; one son Donald II. (Gayla) of Rochester, Minn, one daughter Deborah (Michael) Ratulowski of Chicago, Ill., six grandchildren Paige, Nolan Winslow and Alyssa (Scott) Ross, Greyson, Evelyn and Averen Ratulowski, one sister Jean Hays along with other relatives and friends.
