Obituary for Rubye M. Hetland

Rubye M. Hetland, 92, Mindoro, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Gundersen Health Systems, La Crosse. She was born February 8, 1927 in Mindoro to Burt and Lillie (Larson) Mikkelson. She married Sidney Hetland on March 30, 1946 in the church parsonage. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2016. Rubye loved being with family and preparing delicious meals and baked goods for them. As a busy farmwife, she also found time for sewing doing crafts, flower and vegetable gardening, and traveling with Sid. Sid and Rubye were the first couple to move into the assisted living at Eagle Crest South in September of 2015. We want to thank Eagle Crest staff for the wonderful care they provided them. Rubye is survived by two daughters, Sheryl (Richard) Sacia of Galesville, Wis. and Mary (Donelly) Ike of Westby, Wis. one son, Mark Hetland (Pam) of Madison, Wis. five grandchildren, John (Abigail) Sacia, and Ann (Gen) Sacia, Stephanie (Nick) Olson, Krista (Jason) Dreves, and Tyler (Fiance’ Jennifer Aspenson) Ike. two great grandchildren, Harper and Paige Olson. brother in-law and sister in-law Herb and Sylvia Hetland three nieces, Karla (Tom) Faber, Nancy Briner, and Kayla (Rick) Burt. Three nephews, Terry Seitz, Burt Tomten, and Randy Latshaw. Rubye is preceded in death by her parents, husband Sidney, two sisters, and two brother in-laws, Laura (Carl) Seitz, and Alice (Walter) Tomten. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:30am at Christ Lutheran Church, Burr Oak. Pastor John Werner will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will precede funeral services at the church from 10:00 until the service.
