Obituary for Helen M. Larson


Helen M. Larson, 88, of Melrose passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. She was born September 5, 1930 in the Town of Farmington, La Crosse Co. to Warner and Mary (Lee) Haag. Helen was baptized in her home on October 6, 1935. She was confirmed into her Christian Faith on July 1, 1945 at Mindoro Lutheran Church. She attended Mindoro Grade School and was a proud graduate of Melrose-Mindoro High School Class of 1948. On August 12, 1961 she was united in marriage to Glenn L. Larson. To this union were born two sons Richard and Gary. Helen was a was a very dedicated housewife raising her family and had the same dedication to other children as a bus driver in the Melrose-Mindoro School District for 38 years. She was also a dedicated member of the Melrose American Legion Auxiliary and WELCA. She also loved doing crossword puzzles and crypto quips. Helen is survived by her husband of 58 years Glenn; two sons Richard (Sandy) Larson of Melrose and Gary Larson of La Crescent, two grandsons Derek and Jarrid, one granddaughter Chelsea (Anthony) Yenter, her sister Dorothy (George) Wolf, her sisters-in-law Angeline and Margaret Haag, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warner and Mary Haag, her brothers Clifford (Mildred) Haag, Donald and Roger, her sister Marjorie (Paul) Lunde. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, September 5, 2019 at South Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, Ettrick. Pastor John Ashland will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-until the time of funeral services at the church. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory-Jostad Chapel, West Salem, are assisting Helen’s family in their time of need.
