Obituary for Darlene E. Sandvick Timmer


Darlene Elaine Timmer 81 of De Soto/ La Crosse unexpectedly passed at Mayo health systems December 18th 2019. Darlene was born January 9th, 1938 to Lenwid (Sam) and Virginia (Armoto) Sandvick Sr. In Bellevue IA. She Graduated from De Soto High School. She was married to Dale Mueller Sr. and were later divorced. She married Gilbert (Gib) Timmer in 1984. She resided in De Soto until moving to La Crosse. Her most important job in life was being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She did it with much love, understanding and always with an I love you. She worked at her parent’s businesses and when she was not working, she enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in school activities and sporting events. Darlene and her close companion of 14 years Carl Hanneman enjoyed family events, traveling extensively to points of interest in the U.S. Including Taking the Bellingham Ferry to Alaska and surviving the top of the World Highway. Darlene loved Country Music and was able to get to Branson and Nashville several times. Another highlight for Darlene’s’ love of music was to see Carol Channing in “Hello Dolly” at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. While in D.C. Darlene and Carl were given a personal tour of the White House and Capitol. Darlene and Carl Spent their winters in Florida. Where they Flea Marketed at the Frontenac Flea Market in Cocoa FL. They sold antiques, and old fishing lures. The view from their home was the Nasa Space shuttle assembly building. Dar and Carl spent their summers flea marketing at rendezvous in Prairie Du Chien and Applefest in Gays Mills. Darlene was an avid Packers and Badgers fan. She Loved to play Cribbage and Euchre. Her favorite shows were Price is right, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Darlene loved to give back. She generously donated to St. Jude, Shriners, The Methodist Church, Family and Children’s center, Wounded Warrior Project and the USO. Darlene is survived by her Children Dawn (Ronald) Allert, Teresa (Verlin) Christianson, Dale Mueller Jr. 14 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great grandchildren. Sisters Eva (Herb) Spalla, Shirley (Bob) Long, June Creager and brother Lenwid Sandvick Jr. Many nieces and nephews along with many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Timmer (‘89) and close companion Carl Hanneman SGT. Major Army Reserves Retired and Lt. of Milwaukee PD Retired (‘03). Two Sons Duwayne Charles, Daniel and daughter Sheree. Her Parents Lenwid and Virginia Sandvick and her sister Sandra Abbott and one brother Sammy Sandvick. Funeral Services to be held at Jandt-Fredrickson funeral home on January 18th, 2020. With Visitation from 10-11 and services 11-12. Luncheon to follow at the American legion Post 52, 711 6th st. S La Crosse.
